Last of the Season?

Miguel's Mid-Day

Two weekends ago, Sam, Ben, Zach and I took a trip to the Red over Thanksgiving weekend. We left Friday morning from Bloomington, arrived around lunchtime, and the weekend was on. We weren't sure where we would be staying for the weekend, so we opted to take some daylight to set up camp. Much to our surprise, Miguel's was open, so we just stayed there. It was cold at night, but not as cold as it was the weekend prior.

Giving Thanks

I originally had a post written that was all over the place conceptually and emotionally. Basically an out of control rant about the blatant lack of consideration of others that Sam and I witnessed while climbing this last weekend. In the end, I just needed to write down the rant, re-read it, then trash it. I'm glad I did, I feel free.

I've been thinking about climbing a lot lately; I've thrown myself into the sport completely.

I read about it
I think about it
I do it
I dream it
I love it

I guess this is a process that happens toward end of every season for most climbers, sort of an inventory of everything that happened in the last several months. Now that I'm looking forward to several months of doing nothing but pulling plastic, remembering what's happened outside is going to help me make it through the winter.

Double Gorge Climbing Weekend, Part 2

Tired of the Red so to the New we go.
-Odub

If you haven't seen it yet, here's part 1 of this post. I left off with us leaving the Red for a few days worth of climbing in the New.

New River Gorge

Rounding out the Double Gorge Weekend, we drove another four hours east-ish to the New River Gorge.

New River Gorge Bridge

When we arrived, it was threatening rain, but that didn't stop us. We rolled up to Roger's Rocky Top Retreat on Kaymoor road and as soon as we stepped out of the car, we were greeted with a hearty "How you doing?" It was none other than THE Roger. Continue Reading »

A New Dedication

Dedication
Source: http://icanread.tumblr.com/post/9250681358

There comes a time in every person's life that you have to get back to a place where you can have fun again; a place to find yourself.

A lot has changed for me in the last several months, most of which I'm not going to get into detail about. If you care, ask, otherwise, whatever.

I will say that with everything that's changed, I'm going to be re-immersing myself into my hobbies. Specifically climbing, cycling, brewing, and computer-geeking in that order. And this blog is going to be my way to keep interested; to tell the world.

That's all for now.

PS – I back-dated this post so it comes before my post about the climbing.

Woah, I’m behind!

I'm behind on blog posts, but I'm not concerned. I should have made at least nine posts to both this and my Photoblog since the new year. I've been struggling for inspiration as to what to write, but I think I now have a pretty good idea. In the next couple of days, I'll be doing some work on the information structure of the site to see how things go. Can you really resurrect a blog that's been dead/dying for a while? We're about to see.

My plan is this: I'm going to write about what's going on in my life. I'm going to be adding a few categories, writing about my brewing, gaming, reading, climbing, and scouting stuff. I think I can turn this space into something that I can actually relate to and something that fits with me and my own Ruminating Thoughts.

That's all for now.
