We Made Christmas!

There are lights there, but you can't see them too well. There are also bows on doors and the like.

I thought I would take some time to write before taking off before Thanksgiving with Erin.
First of all, I'm really enjoying my job thus far. It's been two weeks and things are going well. I got my new machine on Monday complete with the gold-code versions of Windows Vista Enterprise Edition and Office 2007 Professional. It's exciting. So far, I like Vista, although it's got a lot of features in common with the Mac OS, but you can't blame Microsoft for not changing their ways. I've also included a photo of my cube so you all can see what it looks like where I work.

Yes, those five screens are hooked up to three computers. The two on the left are on my STC build machine, the next two my Vista machine and the last one on my XP machine. I'm the unofficial resource in the office when it comes to Vista and Office 2007 since I'm the only one with the software on my machines. I also have a Mac in my cube that I can do whatever I would like with. I'll probably put tiger on it and just tinker with it now and then. But yea, that's my cube. You can't see the whole thing because I couldn't get the picture to take if you could, but that's most of it.
I'm excited for tomorrow!!
Erin and I head up to St. Charles for the rest of the week tomorrow at noon. I'm spending Thanksgiving with her and her family this year. I'm excited and a little intimidated at the same time. So yea, there's that.
My new workout regimen will start after Thanksgiving. Every Tuesday and Thursday after work, I'll be heading to the clubhouse to swim my ass off. Friday I will be hitting up the climbing gym and one of the weekend days (probably Sunday) I will spend some time doing a workout on my hang board, which isn't hung yet, but it will be by next week. It's not much but it'll keep me active and keep me from gaining any weight along with the other appealing benefits.
BTW — I love the spell checker built into Firefox 2.0
And IE 7 sux.
That is all!
Until the next post…
I know, it's been a while again since my last update, but I've been busy.
Some of the things consuming my time are:
So there's a list-oriented update of my life. Now on to the story of the last month or so.
The rest of September was… meh. Nothing really cool or interesting happened. I kept working as an hourly with IT Training, getting 40 hours a week, etc. Evenings were spent hanging out with Erin or just chillin.
October had more chances for fun and entertainment. There were a couple weekends in there where I was at the COPE course with various groups. The staff reunion was a couple weekends ago, and it was quite cool. It wasn't just the staff from past years; it was staff from all previous years at Ransburg. It was fun to see some of the people that you hear so much about from before your time. I kept job searching in October, but nothing really came from applications. Mojo came to visit the weekend of the staff reunion, which was also IU's homecoming… which made for interesting traffic patterns that weekend. Nonetheless there were good times to be had while he was here.
November I got my job offer for the professional position (finally classified as PA12, not 13 as I had hoped). I started the professional thing on the sixth, so I'm still a PA nub. I have a cubical… yes a cube… but it's not completely mine yet. I have control over the phone, but the guy who worked in it before me still doesn't have his stuff out yet. My boss assures me that it'll be cleared out by tomorrow afternoon so I can start working in there.
It's all very exciting, truly. I have a job with benefits now, which is freakin awesome. And other than that, I don't really have much to report. Happy Hour has started back up and we've started having $2 cheeseburgers again just like the old days (meaning last year). Erin and I haven't been climbing much lately, mostly because we've been going to Happy Hour or there have been other events happening on Fridays, such as Erin napping from when she's done with class until around 10pm
. I'm exaggerating, but that has been a reason we didn't go climbing a couple times.
In other news, I ordered a Hookah. This baby from Mya Saray. I can't wait for it to get here tomorrow so I can enjoy it while the weather is AWESOME. I wasn't going to buy a table hookah, but I decided to because it was cheaper and more portable.
Today while I was sitting at McDonald's for lunch (I'm addicted to their fries. I know it's not a good addiction to have, and I'm working on that.) I came to a few different realizations. The first, which was the most disheartening, is that I won't be able to be back to camp this summer, or probably for quite a few summers after that. It's sad. I am going to try to take at least a couple weeks off to go to "volunteer" out there. By "volunteer" I mean I'll be there as a member of the COPE and Climbing Committee, meaning I'll be working in one of those locations.
The second realization is that I should really start eating more healthily. I was sitting there eating my Ten McNuggets and fries and saw a HUGE man come sit right in front of me. As soon as I saw him I though "Damn, there's a glimpse into my future if I don't start caring about what I eat a little more. Granted I do eat fairly healthy day in and day out, but I could improve a bit; namely by either bringing my lunch to work or working from 8-4 and just not having lunch until I get home. Either way, I need to stop hitting up the fast food joints for lunch. Maybe once a week would be ok, but I've been doing it daily.
Well, this post has been pretty long, so I'm going to end it. Plus I start teaching in 20 minutes.
peace
