Campeones Campeones!

2004?

Guess who is going to Los Angeles, California!

Well, Carson, California, but that's close enough to LA.

If you haven't figured it out yet, the (2)Indiana Soccer Team defeated the un-ranked Tulsa Golden Hurricane (a.k.a. Golden Showers) 4 – 0 to advance to the College Cup for the second year in a row, sixteenth time overall. This means that I get to go to the College Cup to see IU play, and to play in the Crabb Band.

I'm pumped, as you can see. The only downside is that I have to give up 16 hours of work this weekend to be able to go. Luckily, I've already found a way to get eight of those hours back. We'll see if I can get the rest back.

Anyway, this post is short because I have a lot of work to do. I had to get that out of my system though.

I Can See the Light!

I can finally see the light at the end of what has seemed to be a very long semester. I knew when my college career started that my semesters would get more and more challenging as they went on, but I didn't think they would be this difficult.

Here is the update to my checklist…

Tom Mason Presents, A Thomas Mason Production of Tom Mason's POST-Thanksgiving Break To-Do List:

  • Design a five minute presentation about Cybercafe security issues and how to resolve them.
  • Devise a theme for a final paper to be written for my Cheating class. I'm thinking something along the lines of how to cheat the UITS Uniprint system or something of that sort.
  • Write my final paper for Spanish Class
  • Write my final project for my marketing class
  • Publish new pictures to the KKPsi web site
  • Clean the house
  • Clean my room(but it needs to be done again…)
  • Do my laundry
  • Sleep and relax without video games for as long as I possibly can
  • Visit the family

I did get a lot done over break, but I still have more to do. Now that my Spanish paper is done, I'm going to relax tonight, but tomorrow I have to start working on my CyberCafe presentation and start on my final paper for my Cheating class (I still don't have a topic…).

Let's see… What has happened in the life of Tom lately. Oh yea, I am hella excited about the soccer team and their current run through the NCAA tournament. They play Tulsa at 2pm this Sunday in the regional. If they win they go to Carson, CA a.k.a. Los Angeles. That means I get a trip to LA :)

Also, the basketball team put up a good fight against the University of North Carolina last night. The Assembly Hall was as loud as I have ever heard it and it wasn't even a conference game. It gave us a glimmer of hope for the rest of the season. I'm hoping that our team this year is like the team we had a couple years ago where they play to their oponent's skill level. Then we might actually win some big games.

Anyway, that's all I'm going to write about for now. Maybe I'll post more later, maybe not.

No End-of-the-Blog Rundown today, I don't feel like it.

Until the next post…

Unsung Heroes

Today when I was leaveing Reed after the weekly meeting of THE lunch bunch, there were a couple of people I recognized handing out fortune cookies, magnets and bookmark sized pieces of paper.

At first I thought "Why are these folks out here giving things away to the students? I'm sure they have something better to do." Then I actually read the handouts and magnets that they were passing out.

These two gentlemen were part of the building services team in charge of Reed. They were handing out "Thank Yous" to the students who walked by, showing their appreciation for the students allowing them to be employed. They were representing the Auxiliary Services and Programs of IU.

The ASAP is responsible for many of the services that students take for granted, i.e. RPS, Campus Busses, the IU Bookstore, Campus TV, etc. These individuals work hard to make sure the campus experience is the best it can be for the students. Many of them are working with ASAP as a retirement job or as a part time job. Very rarely do they get a "Thank You" or "Good Job" from the students they dedicate their time to serve.

That's all I've got to say, just found it a bit backward that they were thanking the students when the students should be the ones thanking them…
