Bible Should be Used in a Proper Way

What the hell is wrong with people?

Before you continue reading this post, do yourself a favor and catch up on a bit of national news…

…click here and read the story…

Now that you've read the article (and even if you haven't, I strongly suggest that you do before you continue reading this post), you're about to witness the first post in my blog that is politically charged. Looking at a list of people who read, it shouldn't matter what I write here as long as it is something that I believe in. So here it goes…

Who the hell does this "Rev." Fred Phelps think he is? Anyone who wears the title of Reverend should not be saying anything as hateful or as violent as this. This Phelps character must be some "god sent" minister to the human race! I mean, look at the congregation of his church… "The congregation is made up mostly of his 13 children, 45 grandchildren, and relatives, according to reports. Eleven of the children have law degrees." This Fred Phelps character is a disbarred lawyer turned minister, he must really have something to offer to the human race. You know that his congregation… or should I say his family… thinks so. Now honestly, whose family doesn't think that their family mates have a lot to offer to the human race? I have not met a mother who doesn't think that her son is the best thing that has ever happened to this world, but that's not the point. The point is that this "Reverend" wants to erect a monument supporting the death of a fellow human being. "Matthew Shepard: Entered Hell…" What gives this man a right to judge whether a person goes to hell or not?

Now, if you don't know, I was born and raised in the Roman Catholic Church. We are always taught that no matter what we think as humans, the only person who can make that decision is God and God alone. If this man thinks that he can be 100%, without a doubt sure that Matthew is in Hell, he must have known him better than God himself knew him. I urge you to look at the picture on the Denver Channel's site of Fred. What's the first thing that comes to mind when you see him? To me, he looks like he is from an ultra-conservative, middle-of-the-plains, close-minded small town where nobody in the county had a different set of beliefs than his or his family's. What a hopeless loser, this "Reverend". I can't believe that he has a congregation…

Did you see this? "Phelps and a handful of supporters also picketed at the funerals of Barry Goldwater, Sonny Bono, and Bill Clinton's mother. " Who protests at Clinton's Mother's funeral? Honestly?!? Clinton was probably one of the best president's we've had as a country and this man seems to have a problem with him wanting to burry his mother in a nice ceremony. Who protests at a funeral anyway? Oh yea… Fred does.

I have no respect for this man who proclaims to be a "man of God". If you ask me, he's in no way a man of God. He's a man who has just brought great shame to anyone who calls themselves a Christian, and his family. How could you stand up and make this kind of lame, ungrounded claim and not make your family look like a bunch of spooners?

Here's what I have to say to Fred. I can't believe that you can be so un-compassionate and be a pastor of a Baptist church. Just because someone has a different set of beliefs than you do doesn't mean that they should go to hell. If that were the case, a majority of the human population would be going to your hell because I can almost guarantee you that most of the people in this world do not believe what you do. Grow up! This world has changed way too much to be supporting the death of a fellow human being. The bible teaches us to love thy neighbor as thy self. Your calling as a Baptist minister is to love everyone regardless of their beliefs. My heart goes out to your congregation even though they are mostly your family. I am truly saddened that you lead these people to think that hate is "God's Will". You are a sick, sick man and you need help.

I want to make sure that everyone knows that I am not supporting Matthew Shepard's viewpoint, I am pissed that this Fred fellow can be so non-compassionate toward another human being. That is what infuriates me. I cannot believe that this person thinks that he can put a monument of hate into a public park. If I lived in that town, I would not stand for it. The night that it is erected, I would smash it to pieces with a sledge hammer. There is no place for that in our world, nor should anyone tolerate a man as deranged as this Fred character. I hope that nothing bad happens to this man and I hope that his family is well. I pray that he does not get his way. If he does, it is a prime example of how our legal system, as Americans, has failed us.

That's all for now, unless this Fred guy has more antics in the near future.

Peace
tm

Thank God my Midterms are

Thank God my Midterms are over!

Now I have at least a week to relax a bit. Not completely, but a bit.

The last week sucked, hardcore. I had three exams, two of them midterms. In Spanish class, I had an oral exam on Wednesday. That wasn't too bad because I'm a pretty good speaker. Friday was my toughest day. I had back to back biology exams. Molecular Bio was at 8am followed promptly by Genetics at 9:30ish. I don't know the exact times for that class because it's right after Molecular in the same lecture room. After those were over, the weekend began for me. We had our PMs over for some Risk and paddle signing on Friday night. I miss playing that game and I miss lindz.

Anyway, Saturday night we had a huge get together at our house. There were people there that I didn't even know. From what I hear, everyone had a good time too. We made all of the money from our keg back, so we didn't spend any money.

In other news. I register for classes this week. I'm excited. I am three semesters from graduating and getting out of school. I'm so ready to move on to another chapter of my life. College has been fun, but the chapter is almost written in the book of life.

That's about all I want to write about for now. Maybe more later tonight.
