Monday….stupid Monday

What a weekend. Friday night – Basketball band gig. IU vs Athletes in Action….woo….what a blowout….I mean what a game….
Saturday – IU vs MSU in football….what a blowout….I mean…..what a blowout….
Sunday – Marching Hundred showcase concert. good show. we played well.

As for not having any sleep this weekend….sux….

I woke up sometime either saturday night or sunday morning sitting at my computer desk….head on my keyboard….and a bunch of Rs in my terminal screen. I was messing aroudn with my comptuer and fell asleep. It was like a momentary shot of narcolepcy. I don't remember falling asleep, but I do remember waking up and laughing, then thinking….where the hell is my bed….there it is….mmmm….pillow

Lindz comes to Bloomington in 5 days!!!!

I was supposed to work last night from midnight to eight this morning, but my friend angela took my shift for me as long as I took her's this morning. She's awesome. I owe her big time for this one.

If you want to laugh your head off, send me an IM or e-mail and I'll send you the funniest word document ever created. I promise you will laugh till your stomach hurts.

Ding Ding…

I am running for president of Kappa Kappa Psi this semester, so I am working on my letter of intent as I type. hopefully elections go my way and I'll be elected.

That's about all I have for now.

Wednesday…..hump day…yea… The concert last

Wednesday…..hump day…yea…

The concert last night was freakin awesome!! He played Highway 61, A couple of his new songs, some Stones covers and closed with my personal favorite, "Knocking on Heaven's Door." Awesome show. The Egyptian room is now one of my favorite places to go watch a concert. Craig and I ate at Elbow Room before the show. The food was great, atmosphere was even better. Again, one of my new favorite places to eat. Of course, it's in Indianapolis, but whatever.

Woke up this morning…(sounds like some Adam Sandler song) to finish a paper I was writing on the genome and the implications of the research, but while I was in the shower, I came up with a better idea. I decided to write about privacy and how in the twenty-first century with all the technology and crap, we're still able to keep our privacy. The paper is for Pooh's class and my AI who can't read or write or speak english will be the one grading it. It amazed me that I was able to come up with new sourses and write 1000 words in one morning. go me.

Speech class was fun yesterday. We're giving ceremonial speeches, so it's all good. Josh brought in sparkling grape juice for all of us to drink when he made his toast. Twinkie for Josh (I'll bring it when I buy some Twinkies). I give my speech on Thursday…it's a eulogy about some made up friend of mine.

I'm kinda sad I missed band yesterday, but oh well. I heard they had an indoor rehersal with new music. whatever, it can't be too hard.

Woo Tuesday… Happy election day

Woo Tuesday…

Happy election day to all of you who worship politics as its own religion. I will not be participating in this year's election day for a couple of reasons…1) I'm not registered to vote in the elections that directly affect me, 2) Shelbyville is a long way away, 3) I don't think any of the people running for office diserve to be there after watching their campaigns. My predictions….more Republicans than Democrats in office after today is over. My reasoning….GWB.

Monday didn't seem as long as usual. I got done with my graveyard then went home for some oh so thrilling homework (it's really hard to convey sarcasm with text). While at class, I realized how crackheadded my math professor is. I had been suspecting it since he told our class that the way Americans subtract something like 34653 – 26589 is wrong. He decided that he would teach us the "right way" to subtract. Whatever…as long as 5 – 4 = 1, then I'm happy. I don't care how I get there. As if teaching us how to subtract isn't enough (I mean honestly, we're in college here), he can't really speak english so you can understand him. I will refer to him as The German… Last Monday, he was trying to explain to us that it is a lot easier to draw a picture to simplify an equation than it is to actually do the math and find an answer… The German is on many kinds of crack.

The classroom for that class is in a computer lab…a macintosh computer lab (as if The German wasn't enough). So during the intelectually stimulating class, I decide to print out some directions for my foray to Indianapolis this evening to see Bob Dylan. I get my directions all ready to be printed and hit print. well, the stupid crackheadded randomly stoned print queue at IU ate my print job. Now this wouldn't have been a problem HAD I SAVED THE DIRECTIONS…so as we talk, (well, as you read) I am working on finding these directions again…

Informatics 101 was cake…as usual. The class is such a waste of my time. The only reason I go is because there is "participation" credit as well as all the candy you care to eat from Dr. D's CVS bag. Other than the candy, the class insults my inteligence. Yesterday was M118, Finite Mathematics in a nutshell (look at me, I'm finite in a nutshell). This class is basically taling theories that have been developed in other areas (math, econ, biology) and applying it to information theory…woo. It's a 100 level class….what can I say.

That brings us to Winnie the Pooh…two words…no clue. Just like the rest of the world, Pooh has no idea what Informatics is or what he should be teaching us. On the same side of the fish, the class is impossible because the students don't know what to learn because the class is so broad.
Marching Hundred…if all of my classes were this easy, I would have a 4.0. I swear at about 5:00 last night, the temperature dropped 10 degrees. I was all warm, fat and happy (not so much fat really) before 5; however, right as 5:00 rolled around, my hands were pink and frozen.

Enough about my classes…now on to my life.

The support center guys just left….they replaced a headphone cord. They get paid something like $20 an hour to do that….I want their job.

Things are going well in the life of Tom. Like I mentioned yesterday, I'm going to see Bob Dylan in concert today. I'm excited about that. That's about all there is going on in my life right now.

I bet these blog posts of mine will become a rant session where all I do is complain about my classes. Oh well, such is the life of a college student.

Hello All So this is

Hello All

So this is a new thing for me. I figured that I will get started with this thing since I'm going to have to make one of these for my Social Informatics class (INFO I202). My professor sounds like Winnie the Pooh and acts like a kid in my hometown – Jacob Daniels.

I went to Muncie this weekend to hang out with my good friend Michelle. I had a good time. We watched a movie – Donnie Darko – about a cracked-out rabbit that tells a kid about the future. Good flic. After that movie, the Joi (plural of Joe) put in some shorts by The Brothers Quay. If you don't know who these guys are, they are stop animation filmakers born in the 1940s. The band Tool models their music videos off of the cinematography of these guys. The shorts focus on combining "pure sounds" with "pure images" to convey the meaning of life. Good stuff. They have a DVD that combines ten of their best shorts (my birthday is feb 2….hint hint, wink wink).

This week is going to be a big week for me. Monday is usual…..long…. Tuesday daytime, lunch with Matt, as usual. Tuesday evening, I'm off to see Bob Dylan with one of my roomates from this summer – Craig. He's a big Dylan fan and played a lot of his albums throughout the summer. Since I am a music fan, I got hooked (how could you not on music this classic?). Wednesday…Winnie the Pooh class has an exam. I have a 1000 word paper due Thursday and Friday is Friday.

That's all I've got for now.
